Welcome to the internet-bound, HTTP-conforming, HTML-encoded manifestation of Lucy's existence.

this site is one facet of my online presence. a facet which will remain more personal than my other presentations. expect me to document things about myself that i find important: ideas i'm thinking about, synthesizers i desire or encounter, tools i find useful, glimpses at the things i make.

i am a 23 year old transwoman from seattle. i am an artist, a software engineer, and a composer. i collect synthesizers and music. i also enjoy synthesizers and music.

stay for a while. click around my hyperlinks.

Synthesizers

Elektron

my digitakt, syntakt, and recently acquired octatrack all receive plenty of attention. i am hooked on the workflow. i'm still learning the ot, but i've had a great time using it as a DJ mixer for the other two boxes.

my mark one digitakt is a box I've had for a long time, and I'm quite attached to it. While it's less powerful than the MKIIs, I'm sort of captured by the idea of getting as much as I can out of this older tool. The Syntakt has helped with this, as it provides a lot of sound material I can resample and mangle with the DT. I'm way too partial to its supersaws and analog drums, but really all the machines have sweet spots worth exploring.

Eurorack

I've been a victim of eurorack for many years now. The system is in constant flux, but its come to a stasis over these last few years.

I mostly use my modular as a sonic sketchpad, looking for sound objects in generative and chaotic patches. A great deal of unexpected material can be generated with this approach, its a lot of fun.

Korg Arp Odyssey

One of the earliest synths I wanted, and one of the earliest synths I got. Super capable little engine with a lot of modulation potential, especially for such an early monosynth. Amazing basslines, leads, and FX.

Dreadbox Typhon

Before I had an Octatrack, the Typhon was my go-to FX processor. It's fun-to-play filter and capable selection of digital FX made it ideal for processing my other gear in a live setting. Throw the reverb send, dial in the cutoff, and you have a pretty smooth transition every time. The synth voice is good, too. I don't use it nearly as much these days, which is a shame. It's got some beautiful circuitry.

Roland JD-08

An infamous digital boutique box with an iconic sound pool. The 'waves' on here (samples, really, this is basically a rompler) are recognizable. The two-part multitimbrality is a fun feature too, but as with most muiltitimbral implementations, winds up being a bit finicky use all that often.

i also have a number of books that are on my radar, but not yet in my possession. or not checked out from the library.

  • Metaphors We Live By - George Lakoff, Mark Johnson
  • Thee Psychick Bible - Genesis P-Orridge
  • Sigil Craft - Lia Taylor
  • White Noise - Don Delilo
  • The Shock Doctrine - Naomi Klein
  • Capitalist Realism: Is There No Alternative? - Mark Fisher
  • Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophernia - Deleuze, Guattari

that's a lot of stuff. i'm a pretty slow reader, and i've only recently begun to pursue reading again. lots to catch up on.

Journals

i'm keeping two journal-shaped things right now. both exist in the real, they're tangible, physical notebooks. this is a big shift away from my previous notes-app, obsidian, and git-based journals. while i miss being able to ctrl+f, i've found myself more active in my practice of writing and logging. it's just easier than booting up an editor, for me, anyways. i'm not on my computer as much these days.
